Building Adaptation Program

WHAT IS THE OID’S BUILDING ADAPTATION PROGRAM (BAP)?

The Building Adaptation Program is a collaborative initiative dedicated to applied research and the implementation of collective actions and tools to help adapt buildings to climate change. It brings together building owners, project managers, users, public and private sector clients, financial institutions, insurance professionals and climate experts, with the aim of integrating adaptation considerations into the design and management of real estate projects in France. The programme uses the ‘test and learn’ approach, shares its results as they become available, and refines its indicators based on feedback.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Launched in 2023, the Building Adaptation Programme (BAP) is a programme of applied research and collective action aimed at:

Developing knowledge and indicators related to climate change adaptation for the real estate sector.
Establish a common framework for measuring building adaptation to climate change, covering exposure to climate hazards and the buildings vulnerability, to be integrated into core decision-making and financial assessments
Develop, sustain and improve the Bat-ADAPT tool and related educational content, enabling the operational implementation of this framework to facilitate prioritisation and action.
Bring together and engage sector stakeholders in workshops and working groups to share feedback and best practices, including raising awareness and training.
Establish a structured framework for action in collaboration with the various stakeholders in the real estate sector through a Charter for climate change adaptation.
