The effects of climate change are already tangible and disrupt the whole value chain of the real estate sector. Adapting buildings is no longer optional to anticipate risk, safeguard people, minimise damage, protect assets value, and enhance their resilience.
In response to these challenges, the OID is committed to supporting the integration of adaptation into real estate strategies through shared frameworks and by measuring the impact of inaction.
Against a backdrop of uncertainty regarding the future intensity and frequency of hazards, the OID supports stakeholders by providing forward-looking climate data, risk analyses and structuring methodologies.
This approach helps guide decision-making, prioritise adequate actions, and sustainably improve living conditions for occupants.

The Building Adaptation Programme (BAP) is a collaborative initiative dedicated to applied research and the implementation of collective actions and tools for adapting buildings to climate change. Join the programme as a partner and play an active role in the sector’s transition!
The OID offers an e-learning course on the topic of adapting buildings to climate change. This course aims to widely disseminate essential knowledge for understanding climate risks, conducting vulnerability analyses, and defining effective adaptation strategies.
As heatwaves become more frequent and warnings follow one after another, the OID, with support from the French Government has launched a Charter for adaptation to climate change.
This voluntary and ambitious initiative is targeted at property owners and managers, with clear goals : fostering collaboration and making adaptation actionable for the sector.
