Resilience

Resilience refers to the ability of a building or area to withstand shocks, for example: potential climatic hazards. This concept also encompasses adaptation to these climate risks in order to mitigate the effects of such events on human societies and thereby enhance collective resilience.

The construction sector is particularly vulnerable to climate change. Heatwaves, droughts, swelling and shrinkage of clay soils, rainfall and flooding, forest fires, strong winds, coastal flooding and extreme cold are all natural hazards that affect a region and its buildings. These climate-related hazards will increase in frequency and intensity, posing an ever-greater threat to the physical integrity of buildings.

In response to these challenges, the OID has set the objective of providing the tools and knowledge needed to understand systemic risks and strengthen the resilience of the real estate sector.

THE R4RE PLATFORM (Resilience for Real Estate):

R4RE is a decision-support platform for building resilience. Its primary goal is to help stakeholders in the real estate sector to meet regulatory reporting requirements (European Taxonomy, French RE2020, etc.). The platform currently comprises of three tools: Bat-ADAPT, BIODI-Bat and ARG-VIP.

RESILIENCE TOOLS AVAILABLE ON R4RE:

observatoire de l'immobilier durable

A decision-support tool for climate risks analysis across mainland France, Corsica, the French Antilles and Europe, based on IPCC scenarios. Using an address, exposure to risk is determined in relation to climate hazards. The analysis is supplemented by a vulnerability score assessed on the basis of the answers to a questionnaire regarding the building’s characteristics.

logo biodi bat

A biodiversity analysis tool for the building sector. The tool comprises several indicators analysing biodiversity at the level of the territory, the building or the project. A scientific reference framework provides details of the methodology used to construct each indicator.

A prevention and decision-support module concerning the phenomenon of clay shrinkage and swelling (RGA). It enables to assess the RGA risk for existing or planned properties and proposes solutions tailored to the various constraints identified.

THE PILLARS OF R4RE:

Accessibility

Our platform is freely accessible to all and offers attractive pricing to enable as many people as possible to use it.

Scientific robusteness

Our indicators are built from recognised public databases (Drias, Copernicus, the INPN, the IPCC Interactive Atlas, etc.). R4RE is co-developed with stakeholders in the real estate sector: all models are discussed with our experts and partners.

Methodological transparency

Our methodology aims to be transparent regarding both the data used and the methods and models employed. We therefore make all our technical reference frameworks available to everyone to help foster the development of common standards.

Continuous improvement

We continuously develop the entire platform based on user feedback and their needs. Data and indicators are updated periodically to reflect scientific advances and updates to available data.

For a occasional analysis:

Access to the R4RE platform is free for an analysis of a single building, with no registration required. This free access is designed to enable professionals to explore the tool’s features, whilst also facilitating access to information for individuals to raise awareness and provide them with essential information about their homes.

For a multi-building analysis:

To access the resilience analysis of multiple buildings and save the results, you must obtain an account with an annual licence.

The price depends on the number of buildings analysed (with a volume-based pricing). This pricing structure has been designed to provide the necessary resources for maintaining and developing the tool, whilst remaining accessible to as many people as possible.

The licence is offered to OID members (up to 10 buildings included per year).

A “demo” account allows you to test all the platform’s features free of charge for 30 days.
